How Are Online Classes Held?
All classes are held live each week using Zoom. Students receive Zoom links for their course before the start date, and they’ll use the same link throughout the 28-week session. There’s no guesswork — just click and join!
What Time Zone Are Classes Listed In?
All class times are listed in Central Time (CST during standard time, CDT during daylight saving).
If you’re in a different time zone, no worries — we’re happy to help you convert times so you don’t miss a thing!
Do You Grade Papers and Offer Feedback for Enrolled Students?
Yes! Students enrolled in a writing class can request paper editing and feedback .
Each paper is reviewed using the IEW editing guidelines and the checklist provided for that specific assignment. Students receive positive encouragement along with any necessary corrections, tailored to their grade level and skill.
Parents may also request grading. In that case:
Students earn an A for an accomplished paper
Or an I (Incomplete) if revisions are needed
Note: Grammar courses are not graded, but students still receive guidance and support.
Do You Ever Offer Group Classes?
Yes! I offer group classes upon request. Families can request:
Sibling classes (with special sibling pricing)
Custom group classes for friends or co-ops (minimum of 3 students)
Group classes can be tailored to your needs and schedule, and a group rate is available. Just reach out if you’d like to organize a class!
What Will My Student Need to Participate in an Online Class?
To participate in an online class, your student will need:
A working computer with a webcam and microphone
A quiet space free from distractions
Any required texts or materials for the course
The Zoom link, which is sent out before class begins
I’ll make sure everything is clear before the first session so your student is set up for success!
Are Students Required to Have Their Cameras On During Class?
Yes! All students are required to have their cameras on during class.
This helps create a more engaging, interactive environment where the tutor can connect with each student, provide real-time support, and ensure everyone is participating.
If there’s ever a tech issue or special circumstance, just reach out in advance.
Can a Parent or Sibling Be on Camera with the Enrolled Student?
No — only enrolled students should be on camera and actively participating in class.
It ensures the tutor can engage directly with students, just like in a physical classroom. Background conversations, extra faces, or interruptions — even from well-meaning siblings or parents — can be distracting.
Of course, parents are always welcome to observe off-camera or reach out with questions at any time. If you’re interested in having more than one child join, ask about our sibling discounts!
When Will I Receive the Zoom Link?
Once payment is received and your enrollment form is submitted, your student is officially enrolled!
For the fall semester, Zoom invitations will be emailed in August, before classes begin.
For the spring semester, new students will receive their invitations in January.
If you haven’t received your Zoom link by then, just let me know — I’ll get you a link!
What Is the Refund Policy?
Refunds may be requested up to two weeks before the first day of class.
A $25 enrollment fee is non-refundable.
No refunds are given for missed classes. However, if you give advance notice, I will try to schedule a make-up class.
If the entire course is canceled by me, a full refund including the enrollment fee will be issued.
If I must cancel a class on a particular day, a make-up class will be scheduled.
Do You Accept State Educational Funds?
At this time, all classes are private pay only.
I’m open to exploring how to become an approved vendor for state educational funds, including funding from charter schools or other state programs.
If you have questions about payment options or vendor approval, please feel free to reach out!
